E-Z 90° Log Tenon Cutter
![]() Similar to the E-Z 45° Log Tenon Cutter, the 90° also is adjustable to cut from about 1" diameter tenons up to 3" diameter tenons at the ends of logs and branches. These cutters will fit on any 1/2" drill.
The E-Z 90° cuts a flat shoulder instead of a beveled shoulder (see photos below), and uses two blades to make the cut. The blades are double-sided, so when one side gets dull, simply use the included hex key to flip them around to the sharper side. Blades are made from steel, and then the steel is hardened to provide a strong and durable blade, and keeps its sharp edge for a long time. Flat 90° tenons are ideal for applications requiring a connection to be made to flat surfaces, such as a 4x4 post, wall, stair, or the bottom of a slab table top. I use the 90 Degree arms exclusively for building stands for displays, when I don't want to see a tenon at all. Sometimes you want the log to just join up, and be solid. This is the only 90 Degree cutter I know of that can do that. I love it. You can also use it on square wood, so long as the wood is under 4.5". I haven't tried that yet, but one of my customers did, and made round tenons on 2x4's. Hey, square wood sometimes has to work with log projects. Joining it all together is what counts. The tenon can be drilled at an angle for those special jobs. The flat tenon allows for more gluing surface for a super strong joint. There are so many things you can do with the EZ-90. The E-Z 90° Log Tenon Cutter will accept a log up to about 4-1/2" diameter, and will produce a tenon up to 2" long. A 3/8" drill bit is included with your order to drill the pilot hole into the end of the log. The guide bar is then inserted into the pilot hole. Start your drill slowly at first, then gradually add speed and pressure to cut the tenon to your desired length. We have more instructions, examples, tips, and ticks in the Product Manual, which has just been updated. Please download the free PDF E-Z Log Tools Products Manual below. If you have any questions send us an email. And, if you're like me and want to challenge everything and everybody, you can also use the 90-Degree Tenon cutter to make round tenons on square wood, like a 2x4. You'd have to even-out the end of the 2x4 first. I will make a video on how to do it. But think of it...... who wants to make square mortises? Unless you have big bucks and want to invest into a mortise machine, woodworkers use a drill and a chisel to make a square mortise. It is a lot easier to use a forstner bit to make a nice round hole, and the E-Z 90 Cutter to make the tenon. I'm going to make a video on how to do this. When I get it done, I'll post it here.
